British Council and Nesta offer training workshops for creative entrepreneurs on November 9-13.
The British Council, in partnership with Nesta, an organization from the United Kingdom that helps individuals and groups design and grow better ideas, is offering a five-day training program for creative entrepreneurs on November 9-13, 2015 in Manila. The program takes creative entrepreneurs through the daunting task of planning their business, setting it up, and sustaining it.
Filipino artists have long held a strong position in the market among the ever-growing number of local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The emerging creative industry currently accounts for 7.34% of the workforce and contributes more than Php661 billion annually to the Philippine economy.
Designed by Nesta, the Creative Enterprise Training will provide participants with the practical tools and techniques in building and running a viable creative enterprise. Participants will learn the following: visually planning out their business; aligning their values with their business idea; communicating what their business has to offer; knowing their customers; and managing their finances and sustaining the business, among others.
This participatory workshop is especially designed for entrepreneurs working in the creative sectors of advertising, architecture, the art and antiques market, crafts, design, designer fashion, film, video games, music, the performing arts, publishing, software, and television and radio.
The British Council will bring Percy Emmett, a Nesta-accredited trainer, to facilitate the five-day training program. Emmett works with universities and other organizations across the globe in their delivery of creative industry workshop training. He also delivers business start-up programs to universities and enterprise support agencies in countries such as Lebanon, Nigeria, Russia, Brazil, Albania, Macedonia, Vietnam, United Arab Emirates, and Turkey.
“Running a creative enterprise takes more than a creative idea—it is also crucial to have the skills and tools to be able to turn that idea into a successful and sustainable business,” shares British Council Philippines Country Director Nicholas Thomas. “This program is designed for aspiring creative entrepreneurs who want to develop new skills, ideas, and knowledge, and creative founders who want to take their existing business to the next level.”
Registration for the Creative Enterprise Training is open until October 30, 2015. Registration to the program has a fee of Php15,000. Limited slots are available. For more details, please visit the registration page at www.britishcouncil.ph.
