Overview of ESBE

The Scoping Study of English as a Subject in Basic Education (ESBE) in the Philippines, conducted in partnership with the National Teacher's College, examines English language teaching, learning, and educational management across six key regions: NCR, Bicol (Region 5), Central Visayas (Region 7), Eastern Visayas (Region 8), Western Mindanao (Region 9), and BARMM. Focusing on Grades 3, 6, and 10, the study supports the MATATAG curriculum’s implementation, aiming to prepare learners as inclusive, active citizens. By analyzing curriculum content, textbook quality, teacher education, learner engagement, assessment methods, and teacher proficiency, this research identifies collaboration opportunities to improve English education across these target regions and to advance national goals for equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Purpose
