The Maranao Collectibles (Marawi City) was established by a displaced couple, Salika and Jardin Samad in July 2017, during the Marawi Siege to revive the dying art of the langkit weave. Prof Marvin Beduya, Bayan Academy Executive Director and a former mentor under the Ideation Camp scheme of the project, said that while Jardin Samad is the more ‘technical’ of the two, Salika complements this with her public relations skills. The couple wanted to preserve the Maranao art of langkit weaving, and they scoured the evacuation centre for raw materials they could use for this initiative, all the while teaching the other evacuees how to weave.

The Maranao Collectibles has participated in international bazaars such as the Manila FAME and has supplied langkit to highly publicised sports events in the country such as the Ironman and the UAAP Season 82.
