Social Enterprise: An Appropriate Intervention for IDP Resilience and Social Cohesion (SE Project)

The clamour of the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) from Marawi City to improve their economic condition is one of the bases for the support and interventions of different agencies.

In an assessment done with the IDPs, individuals and families in evacuation centres, at home and in transitional shelters are struggling to meet their immediate and long-term needs. Many of them lost their livelihood and were left unable to recover due to the challenges of starting new ventures.

The lack of income for the affected families will result in different issues and problems. These include increased malnutrition and the higher incidence of health-related issues, spike in crime rate, declining literacy and other related gender-based violence.

This project would like to advocate and convince service providers/civil society organisations (CSOs) that has livelihood programs to implement social enterprise in supporting the IDPs.

This project aims to advocate for social enterprise and encourage service providers/CSOs working on livelihood programmes to implement social enterprise to support internally displaced persons (IDPs).

This advocacy initiative arrives at an opportune time as Marawi implements recovery programs. The initiative is built on the concept of innovation as a social solution that creates social values.
