It is important that you read and accept the IELTS test terms and conditions when you register for the test.
You also receive the terms and conditions in the Notice to Candidates, which is included with the application form.

When you sign the declaration in the application form you are confirming that you have read and understood the IELTS test terms and conditions and agree to abide by them.
Security at IELTS tests is important to us. As an added measure, all participants will be required to have their photograph taken by IELTS administrative staff on their test day. Please make sure that you review the photograph instructions supplied to you after you have booked your test.
In addition, you will be required bring the same original (not photocopied) identification card you used when you registered for the test . The identification card/passport must be valid at the time of registration and exam day. Passports with punch holes are considered invalid, regardless of expiry date. Presenting a renewed passport is not allowed. Ensure that validity of identification is later than test date. “No ID, No Test Policy” is enforced during the exam. You will be considered absent and your test fee forfeited if you cannot present the ID you used during registration.
You also need to bring your own wood-clinched pencil, eraser and sharpener. A bottle of water is allowed given that it is label-free. You are not allowed to bring any personal belongings (e.g. mobile phones, wrist watches, camera, other electronic equipment, handbags, envelopes, plastic bags etc) inside the exam room. Bringing of personal belongings during the test day is highly discouraged. You will be required to leave all of your personal belongings in the baggage area. The British Council will not be liable for any losses.
Test date transfers
Candidates may transfer their test dates but the request must be made at least 5 weeks before the scheduled test date. Contact us to arrange your transfer.
An administrative fee will be charged for test date transfers. Candidates may transfer their test dates once only.
Cancellation and refunds
Candidates who decide to cancel their registration more than 5 weeks before the scheduled test date will receive a refund of PHP 6,739.50. Candidates will be asked to return their original receipt and fill in a request for refund form at a British Council examination centre.
Candidates who decide to cancel their registration within the 5 week period prior to the test date will not receive any refund unless they can prove to the centre that their ability to sit the test has been affected by an illness or serious cause. Serious causes includes:
- Hospitalisation or serious injury. It does not include minor illnesses such as a mild cold or cough.
- Loss of a direct family member
- Hardship or trauma - victim of crime or traffic accident
- National service
For refund requests within the 34-day period, please complete and submit a Request for Refund Form along with the supporting evidence. The deadline for your centre to receive your request and supporting evidence is five calendar days after the test date.
Enquiry on results
You can choose to undertake an Enquiry on Results, which means having your IELTS test re-marked, if you are unsatisfied with your results. This must be done within six weeks from the test date. You can choose which sections of the test you want to have re-marked. Your test will be sent to the head office for re-marking by Senior Examiners.
There is a fee for the Enquiry on Results service, which will be refunded in a form of a cheque should your overall score change as a result of the re-marking. The fees are as follows for each type of exam:
- £60 for the IELTS test
- £100 for the IELTS for UKVI test
- £75 for the IELTS Life Skills test
The fee is multiplied by our monthly bookkeeping rate.
