Cancelling your IELTS test

You may request for a refund of your IELTS test fee before the fifth week from your test date.

To make a request, please download and complete our Request for Refund or Test Date Transfer Form and send it to British Council Philippines, 7F The Curve, 32nd Street cor 3rd Avenue, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig or email to britishcouncil@britishcouncil.org.ph. (Please note that you need to sign the form.) You can find the documents below in the download section. We will process your request and confirm the approval after five working days.

In case you need to file for a refund within five weeks before your test date, your request may be granted if you can show evidence that your ability to take the test has been compromised due to the following reasons:

  • Serious illness – e.g. hospital admission or serious injury (Does not include minor illness such as mild cold)
  • Loss or bereavement – death of a close family member
  • Hardship/trauma – victim of crime, victim of a traffic accident
  • Military service

You will be required to provide supporting documents such as medical certificate from the hospital, death certificate, police report and other documents to support your claim. Only original medical certificates in local language or English are accepted. If we have not received both required documents at our office in Taguig City by the fifth working day after the test, you will be marked as absent and forfeit all claims.

Copies sent by fax or email are not accepted. We recommend sending medical certificates by registered mail.

Your request will be subject for approval by the test administrator.

For approved requests, there will be a deduction of 25% from the total test fee to cover the administrative costs. You will need to surrender your official receipt before we can process the issuance of your refund cheque. We will issue a cheque with the remaining amount after two weeks from the receipt of your official receipt. For security reasons, please note that the cheque we will issue to you is not encashable and you can only deposit it to your bank account.

Test date transfer

You may request for a transfer to another test date before the fifth week from your test day.

To make a request, you need to complete the test date transfer form and send it to our office. We will process your request and confirm the approval after five working days.

In case you need to file for the transfer within five weeks before your test date, your request may be granted if you can show evidence that your ability to take the test has been compromised due to the following reasons:

  • Serious illness – e.g. hospital admission or serious injury (Does not include minor illness such as mild cold)
  • Loss or bereavement – death of a close family member
  • Hardship/trauma – victim of crime, victim of a traffic accident
  • Military service

You will be required to provide supporting documents such as medical certificate from the hospital, death certificate, police report and others documents to support your claim. Your request will be subject for approval by the test administrator.

If approved, the test administrator may charge a Php 1000 administrative fee. You will need to pay the fee five days after the approval to finalise the transfer.

You will receive an email from our Exams Officer regarding the status of your request within five working days from the date of request.
