The Active Citizens: Leaders for Social Impact is a bespoke social enterprise leadership programme developed from the Active Citizens learning journey, which is a tried and tested British Council methodology for community leadership.
The Active Citizens network in the Philippines joins the tenth year celebration of the Active Citizens programme. Last weekend, the British Council in the Philippines and the Balay Mindanaw Foundation, Inc hosted the first-ever national forum in Cagayan de Oro City, gathering social entrepreneurs and community leaders in this one event.
The Active Citizens National Forum was organised to connect some 300+ trained Active Citizens across the Philippines, to build networks and to create linkages, and to ensure that connections will continue.
'My organisation, KAMAGOGOPA, Inc, provided skills enhancement and training workshops on halal organic agri-crops production as a trauma healing initiative and to help them regain their self-worth and confidence.I thought of using Active Citizens as a capacity building activity for the residents of Pantar West and the internally displaced families we adopted following the Marawi Siege. We conducted an Active Citizens training to address the root causes of the Marawi Siege and I thought that the module on "Me and My Identity" was especially applicable.'– Rashid Bangcolongan, KAMAGOGOPA, Inc
We have already completed this programme. For opportunities and other queries in relation to our work in the Philippines, please email us at britishcouncil@britishcouncil.org.ph.
